Enable the experimental feature for Power Automate for new features
Microsoft Power Automate is the most powerful application pillar of Power Platform ecosystem. Microsoft is constantly improving the working experience with the application for easiness. Microsoft has introduced Experimental feature for Power Automate by which you can use the latest features in Power Automate. But a word of caution that as Experimental feature are not for live users as these features can break, disappear at anytime as per Microsoft. But still if you want to make yourself to see experimental features then there is an option to enable it. You can disable it anytime.
Step:1 – Open Office.com portal and click Power Automate icon
Open Office.com portal and click Power Automate icon from app apps dashboard or use direct link https://us.flow.microsoft.com/ to open Power Automate then choose correct environment. In the right top corner click on the gear icon and in the settings option click on “View all Power Automate settings”.
In the new pop up screen choose language as English and Regional format as United States. Most importantly Enable the Experimental feature toggle button to ON. After this step click Save.
Now we enabled the features and refresh the power automate home screen.
Step -2 : Checking the new Experimental features in Power Automate
After the features enabled now create a new flow and add an action for example add Dataverse connector and an action Add a new row. In the action step if you can see the Table name option. Now previously it was showing table dropdowns but in this feature it will show the logical name with display name which makes easier to identify correct table if multiple tables with same display name and different publisher. In old feature it was difficult identify the correct table as logical name was not displaying.
Like above feature the Dynamic panel and expression options are revamped for betterment. the two icons display prominently at right top corner of action steps so that at any time we can click to open with out fly out option which is better because in previous feature sometime the dynamic panel was not appearing.
When you click Dynamic value panel link now it appears inline window with the target field by which we can easily choose a dynamics property field from the list. Also the great part is now the steps are displaying as collapsible section with its dynamic properties. You can choose one item from the list and it will add to fields as per your wish. If you want to learn more on dynamic field then click on Learn more option available on the same screen.
The next great feature is revamped expression editor. When you click the function icon it will open inline code editor where you can write expressions. previously it was very difficult to write expressions if it is so long.
Now as the inline expression editor introduced we can easily write code expressions with intellisense and also being on the same screen we can add dynamic fields from below panel so no need to switch back to another panel.
Its a great enhancement.
