[Solved] Failed to delete Fields (XXX). Object dependencies exist, please review before deleting error in Power apps

[Solved] Failed to delete Fields (XXX). Object dependencies exist, please review before deleting error in Power apps

In a power app solution, you can remove a component or delete a component. Removing component will just remove the component from your solution but will be available in Default solution. If you delete a component, it will completely deleted from Organization. You will not find the deleted component from default solution also.

Always prefer removing a component rather than deleting a solution. But if it required to delete a component by any cost then you have to follow below steps otherwise you will find error while deleting with an error message “Failed to delete Fields (XXX). Object dependencies exist, please review before deleting.” The below screenshot is showing when I am trying to delete Amount field from Loan table inside my solution.

Steps to follow before deleting a component from solution.

Step 1 : Check Dependencies

Check the dependencies of the component by clicking Show Dependencies option from Advanced option for the component.

Now you will see a list of components which are using the component you are trying to delete.

Step 2 – navigate to dependent component and remove the target component

You have to open the dependent components and remove the target component from the dependent component and publish the dependent component.

For this example, you have to follow below steps.

  1. Remove the Amount field from All Forms.
  2. Remove the Amount field from All Views
  3. Remove the Rollup columns used Amount column for calculation.

You have to repeat the step for all dependent components. Once all dependent components are updated now if you delete the target component. it will not show error. And also if you click Show Dependencies of that component, it will not show any dependent component.

Remember, You can delete a component if there is no dependent components.

Hope this helps.
